Lotsa Place Branding in Asia-Pacific

As if their efforts so far weren't enough (they regularly ranks well in country brand tops/indices), Australians again invest in their country brand. Not tourism, but country (there's a difference).

Brand Japan is also a matter of constant concern in that country. Not that people haven't heard of Japan...

All that in a region that already boasts successful place branding projects, such as Malaysia and Hong Kong.

Asia's the place to watch in the coming years, and not only from a branding perspective. For us Europeans to stay competitive, we need to watch them, and watch intently.

TED Talks: Twitter and BMW cars, in Romanian

Translations number 2 and 3 are in. Back in 2007 Chris Bangle talked about BMW and about cars as art.

And in 2009, Evan Williams listened to Twitter users and talked about it.

TED now boasts 72 Romanian translations. All worth watching :)

The Weekly Wire's 400th Issue

Old habits die hard. The Weekly Wire, Grapefruit's weekly digest of branding, identity and design news, opinions and case studies has its 400th issue out today.

Published uninterruptedly since 2001, TWW goes out to over 1,300 marketing and communication professionals from all over the world, both client and agency. Ingredients for success include:

- it's a non-intrusive, text-formatted weekly email newsletter. Oh, and it even tweets between issues now

- it's always free and ad-free

- it's edited by yours truly, so it doesn't represent a particular media interest or group.

I'm starting preparations for issue #500 and hope you'll be on board by then :)
